MILW 64-C

Back in the mid to late 60’s I fired a lot in the freight pool and hostled engines in Milwaukee... I got pretty familiar to the re-wiring that took place on the covered wagons... On this trip I was firing for Johnnie Hahn from Milwaukee to Portage... We had an old passenger loco in the lead on train 69 that still had all the parts for the MARS oscillating headlight but it was all disconnected...

Me and my trusty screwdriver got to work during the trip and abra cadabra... the old 64-C (ex 94-C) had an operating Mars light again... I’d connect em and the Mechanical Dept. would disconnect em... somebody ratted me out and I was told to quit repairing them or the electricians union was going to time slip me!

Right there, is why railroading used to be fun. That kind of crap that you could get away with before the bean counters and lawyers took it over. Thank, Tommy
